Today I will share a recipe for flaxseed porridge with bran and sesame seeds - this is my favorite porridge.
Flour of various types and bran are sold in a wide variety, from different manufacturers, although they differ somewhat in taste and nutritional value.
Here I have three components for porridge: flaxseed flour (Novosibirsk), oat bran (Novosibirsk).
Chemical composition of flaxseed porridge
Cereals obtained from flaxseeds have many beneficial properties. This is due to its vitamin composition - the product contains:
- essential vitamins A, E, B;

- huge amount of fiber.
A special property of the cereal is its hypoallergenicity. You can use it almost without any fear.

The porridge contains a surprising amount of vegetable protein - more than half of the total. The product is extremely useful for gaining healthy muscle mass. Flaxseed porridge is used to lower blood sugar.
For women
The presence of lingan hormones in cereals makes the product very useful for women during pregnancy and lactation. Flaxseed porridge in the morning promotes healthy fetal development and stimulates lactation. In addition, its use has a positive effect on female beauty - the beneficial properties of flax rejuvenate the skin, strengthen nails and hair.
For men
The main benefit for men is that the product is rich in protein - and is highly recommended for use during physical activity. It increases the level of the male hormone testosterone, has a beneficial effect on potency and protects against prostate tumors.
For children
The product must be present in the children's diet. It saturates the baby’s body with valuable vitamins and elements, normalizes intestinal function, protects the child’s heart, joints and nervous system.
At the same time, croup has almost no contraindications and causes harm very rarely. Therefore, you can offer it to your child for the first time after 3 years of age - but, of course, to start with in small portions. To make flaxseed porridge for babies tastier and more enjoyable for the baby, you can add pieces of fruit, honey or jam to it.
Attention! Just in case, before introducing the product into your diet, you should consult your pediatrician. In rare cases, the properties may be harmful.
To whom flaxseed porridge is contraindicated, the harm of flaxseed porridge
Flaxseed porridge is unlikely to harm anyone; in essence, this dish simply cannot have any sharp contraindications. The only caution to its use is individual intolerance to flax and its components. But this is an extremely rare phenomenon, occurring in less than 1% of people.
Another small word of caution - beware of low quality products. Often flaxseed porridge, in the form of a semi-finished product, from a dubious manufacturer, can only disappoint. But, prepared with your own hands, according to the right recipe, it will definitely delight you!
Is it possible for pregnant and nursing mothers to eat flaxseed porridge?
The product is approved for use during pregnancy, provided that the expectant mother does not have individual allergies or acute gastric diseases.
Flaxseed porridge is also allowed during breastfeeding - along with it, many valuable substances that are beneficial for the health of the baby get into the milk.
Important! The dosage of the product should be small - the fact is that it contains poisonous cyanogenic glycosides in small quantities. Usually they do not cause harm, since their volumes are negligible - but during the period of bearing a child, it is better to be safe.
Flaxseed porridge: benefits and harm
Everything that flaxseed porridge is useful for is contained in its composition. The beneficial properties are not destroyed during cooking, since there is no long-term heat treatment.
The harm from porridge is minimal, and may include:
- • individual manifestation of allergy to flax itself;
- • the negative impact on the body of all kinds of additives and flavor enhancers, which manufacturers do not hesitate to use.
It cannot be said that flaxseed porridge is useful for pancreatitis (even during the recovery period). This disease occurs when the pancreas becomes inflamed and requires a responsible approach to nutrition. It is important to limit carbohydrates and fats and follow the recommendations of your doctor. The dish can cause harm by provoking the movement of stones in case of cholelithiasis.
During pregnancy, porridge does not harm either the mother or the baby, and during breastfeeding it does not cause bad or dangerous “spills” into breast milk. Thus, you can eat it before pregnancy, during and after the birth of a child. True, expectant and young mothers are advised to prepare flax porridge on their own, avoiding store-bought versions of the dish enriched with additives.
How to cook flaxseed porridge yourself? For this you need flaxseed. The seeds are ground in a kitchen blender or using a coffee grinder. The result is a flour-like mass. You can mix several types of crushed cereals or fruits and vegetables: flax and rolled oats, flax and buckwheat, flax and raisins, etc. Then the porridge is poured with boiling water (hot milk or broth) and left for 10 minutes. Some cooking options involve short cooking on the stove.
By the way, many people don’t like the taste of flaxseed porridge, but this happens most likely out of habit. Flaxseed meal is essentially tasteless. The appearance of the finished dish is also not particularly impressive: it turns out to be not the most pleasant brownish shade, rather slimy, with a specific, though not strong, aroma.
For what diseases is flaxseed porridge useful?
For some ailments, the benefits of flax seed porridge are especially noticeable. But to do this you need to know the rules for its use.

Thus, the inflammation that accompanies gastritis and ulcers is reduced. The dish helps regulate acidity in the stomach, is perfectly digested, well absorbed, and in the intestines it exhibits a laxative property and improves peristalsis.

Flax porridge: composition
Flax is a culture known to mankind since ancient times. And flax cultivation is not limited to one purpose: the production of fabrics. The plant is also cultivated to obtain seeds. The variety “Kudryash” gives the highest yield. The seeds are used whole for food, unusually healthy fatty oil is squeezed out of them, and porridge is made from the cake. Cake porridge is essentially a semi-finished product. For many manufacturers, it does not require cooking; it swells in boiling water and becomes ready for use.
So, the oil is removed from the seeds. The cake remains practically fat-free. And then what is the benefit of porridge made from flaxseed, “robbed” and defatted in this way? And what remains in it is a valuable food element – protein.
And also fiber, mucus, vitamins and microelements. 100 g of dry porridge contains up to 80 mg of vitamins C, about 1.5 mg of E, there are B vitamins and carotenoids. This dish is also rich in phytoestrogens, which have a positive effect on the female reproductive system.
To prepare porridges, you can also take whole flaxseed, and then the most valuable fatty acids, which are very important for the proper functioning of all body systems, remain in the dish.
Ready-made flaxseed porridges are often enriched with pieces of fruits and vegetables, herbs, etc. But it is important to ensure that the additives are not artificial, without flavors or dyes.
Are there any benefits to instant flaxseed porridge?
There is an opinion that any instant cereals are not suitable for a healthy diet, since they contain almost no beneficial properties. But flaxseed is an exception in any case - after all, even ordinary seeds are often simply brewed in hot water rather than subjected to full heat treatment.
“Quick” porridge is made using a special technology using steam treatment of crushed flax seeds. The finished product retains its beneficial properties almost completely. The health benefits and harms of instant flaxseed porridge depend on its naturalness and quality. If there are no chemical preservatives, dyes or flavor enhancers in it, then there can be no harm from it.
Instant flaxseed is a good option for those who do not have time to pre-soak and then grind the raw materials. The main thing is to choose a product with the most natural composition.
Harm of flaxseed porridge and contraindications
The product very rarely causes harm to the body. However, the benefits are not the same for everyone. It is better not to eat cereals:
- with an individual allergy to flaxseed porridge;
- for gastrointestinal diseases in the acute stage;
- with cholelithiasis with the formation of stones;
- for diseases of the genitourinary system.
Also, the product should not be consumed too often or in large quantities to avoid the accumulation of cyanide substances in the body. Flaxseed porridge at night does not cause harm - but it is best to consume it in the first half of the day.
Flaxseed porridge: properties
Flaxseed porridge has many beneficial properties. Regular use of the product contributes to:
- • cleansing the body and intestines in particular;
- • normalization of stool;
- • removal of excess fluid from the body, which is manifested by the elimination of edema and a decrease in volume;
- • absorption of excess fats and other “harmful substances” when taking other products together with porridge;
- • the appearance of a feeling of satiety for a long period of time (up to 6 hours);
