The world saw the first Ferrero Rocher candies in 1982. Buyers liked them so much that the owners had to open their production not only in Italy, but also in other countries.
About the owners and company
In 1946, Pietro Ferrero and his wife Piera founded the company, which they named after their last name. But it all started back in 1942 with a small shop in the city of Alba (Italy). The signature product was nut sticks dipped in chocolate, which were liked by all the locals.
The company's first factory
When and what happened?
The second country after Italy to begin producing Ferrero sweets was Germany in 1956.
Michele's eldest son in the Ferrero family has been helping in the confectionery business since 1949. Therefore, in 1957, Pietro entrusted him with the management of the company.
Russian sweets lovers have been able to buy Ferrero in their country since 1995. For this purpose, a Ferrero Russia representative office has been opened.
Popularity and success
Ferrero is one of the most popular companies in the world. It employs more than 22 thousand people at 38 trading and 18 manufacturing enterprises.
Ferrero chocolates are sold all over the world. They are issued every year in the amount of over $10 billion.
Ferrero sweets contain a third of the world's hazelnut harvest.
Now production and trade are managed by Giovanni, Michele's son.
Attention! The name Rosher is very reminiscent of the Ukrainian brand Roshen. Don't confuse them. Both companies survived trial over this issue. The Italians won it.
The popularity of Ferrero led to the fact that housewives began to make “Ferrero Rocher” according to a home recipe.
Product uniqueness
Many Ferrero products are unique. For example, Kinder eggs with toys placed inside are famous:
- Kinder Bueno.
- Kinder Delice.
- Kinder Chocolate.
- Kinder Surprise.
The idea for their manufacture was given by U. Salice.
Similar kinders were made back in the Russian Empire. But they did not become widespread.
Candies
Who doesn't love delicious candy? How, for example, can you go on a visit without taking a gift with you, the main requirements for which are presentable packaging and good contents.
That is why Ferrero Rocher sweets rarely linger on the shelves of our stores. The manufacturer, contrary to the opinion of many people, is not Roshen at all, but the famous Italian company Ferrero.
So if you like traditional European chocolate, you can be sure that these golden-wrapped treats will suit your taste.
history of the company
This largest company was created in 1940 in Alba. Its founder was Michele Ferrero, who gave the name to his brainchild. Ferrero Rocher candies were also named by analogy. The manufacturer, however, did not become famous for its exquisite sweets.
The first product to roll off the assembly line was chocolate spread. In 1946, the consumer accepted it with delight. Essentially, it's quality chocolate butter with toasted nuts.
Already in 1954, the brand was renamed and given the name Nutella, which is still familiar to us.
However, the company did not stop at producing chocolate spread. In 1968, it pleased consumers with a new product: the most delicate chocolate filled with milk cream. It began to be positioned as Kinder Chocolate.
The high milk content suggested that this product was beneficial for children. After just 6 more years, the company released a new global brand, which is still loved by all children today. It's a chocolate egg with a toy inside. Almost simultaneously, Ferrero Rocher sweets entered the market.
The manufacturer put his whole soul into their creation, and as a result, the world received an exquisite dessert. By the way, Raffaello sweets appeared almost simultaneously. In fact, their production technology is similar; in both cases, the shell is a crispy wafer, and inside there is a delicate cream and nut.
These luxurious sweets brought the company millions of dollars and fame.
Popular among sweet tooths
Of course, there are a huge number of candies on the market today, which means you always have a choice. Why do customers choose Ferrero Rocher candies for many years in a row? The manufacturer was able to make the perfect dessert - tasty, light, and incredibly attractive.
It simultaneously serves as a present and table decoration, as well as an exquisite treat. The taste of sweets can compete with many other desserts.
That is why the brand does not lose its popularity year after year; on the contrary, against the backdrop of new products it stands out as something ideal and perfect - an unsurpassed classic. However, today there are many questions about whose Ferrero Rocher candy it is.
The manufacturer (as we have already indicated) is an Italian company. This question arises in connection with the opening of a Ukrainian manufacturer of sweets with the consonant name “Roshen”.
Have all readers already tried these sweets? If not, then it’s time to discover this pleasure for yourself. Ferrero Rocher candy (produced in Italy) is a magnificent crispy dessert, which is a ball of milk chocolate and waffles, covered with nuts. Under the crispy shell there is a delicate cream and whole hazelnuts. A perfect combination that you can't help but love.
Cost of candy
In fact, it is quite high, but the pleasure is worth it. These candies are very popular in Russia.
They rightfully belong to premium class sweets, and therefore are perfect for giving as a gift.
The packaging is very laconic; today you can find packaging in the shape of a bell, herringbone, parallelepiped, cone, and square. A 100 g package will cost you 280 rubles, and a 350 g package will cost you 852 rubles.
Compound
Since we buy not packaging, but sweets, you are probably also interested in the composition. (Russia also has a production complex) pleases us with fairly acceptable ingredients.
It’s difficult to call them healthy, but the candies don’t contain anything dangerous either. These are nuts and cocoa butter, milk powder, sugar, soy lecithin, cocoa powder and whey. In addition, the composition contains wheat flour and vegetable oil, as well as vanillin.
Calorie content - 580 kcal per 100 g of product.
Factory in the Vladimir region
Of course, sweets are not brought to us from Italy; it was much easier for the manufacturing company to create a factory in Russia. This decision was made in 2007, and after much debate, the Vladimir region was chosen.
Already in 2009, the first production line was launched. Today it is a modern production complex with an area of more than 80,000 m2.
At the same time, a foreign company not only provides people with jobs, but also makes its contribution to improving the economic indicators of the region.
Products of the Roshen company
With the beginning of the conflicts in Ukraine, this topic is becoming more and more pressing, so let’s set the record straight. The consonant names confused people and now many of them believe that it is Poroshenko. In fact, nothing like that, we already told you that these are Italian sweets.
Their manufacturer values traditions and has kept the quality bar at the highest level for many years in a row. But “Roshen” is a cheaper candy, often with dubious ingredients. However, it's not just about the consonant name. The fact is that the Ukrainian manufacturer decided to go even further and grab part of the market, already kindly won by the Italians.
What do I need to do? That's right, release products that are as similar as possible to a well-known brand, preferably expensive. Apparently for these reasons they plagiarized Ferrero Rocher candies.
Manufacturer Poroshenko (it was not possible to find a photo of the product, and representatives of the Ukrainian company deny the fact that this product is distributed through the distribution network) changed the name quite a bit and the result was Rocher sweets. Italian manufacturers sued their Ukrainian colleagues.
They, in turn, argued that this is a completely independent brand, which is completely different from its Italian counterpart. As a result, the Ukrainian company Roshen lost the lawsuit regarding the Rocher brand, which means that the buyer will no longer be misled.
Let's sum it up
We all love sweets very much. We buy them when we go on a visit, take them home for tea, as a gift and at work. Even ordinary caramels make our lives brighter, let alone the exquisite and stunning Ferrero Rocher.
Their only drawback is their high price, although this may not be a bad thing. The only way to get rid of them is when the box runs out.
And if they were more accessible, the chance of quickly gaining excess weight would increase significantly.

Ferrero today and tomorrow
Every year, sweet lovers buy Ferrero chocolates worth a total of €80 billion. This is 7.8% of the global sales of all confectionery products in the world.
Although the international leader (Mondelez International) sells almost twice as much (14.6%), the owners of Ferrero have little left to achieve it: to beat Mars (14.2%) and Nestle (12.2%).
Not far from the Russian city of Vladimir, the Ferrero family opened a branch in 2009. It occupies a fairly large area: 80 thousand m2. The produced candies are sold in Russia and neighboring countries.
