A dietary side dish for meat or fish cutlets is prepared from:

  • broccoli, boiling it in salted water;
  • jacket potatoes;
  • several types of vegetables (stew of carrots, tomatoes and onions, etc.);
  • buckwheat, couscous.

For those losing weight, for example, a dish of Brussels sprouts (300 g) and kefir (75 ml) is suitable. The vegetable is cooked until half cooked. Then you need to mix 1 chopped onion with a clove of garlic, kefir, salt and pepper, pour this sauce over the cabbage and bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes.

A dietary side dish for any type of fish can be prepared from:

  • Cauliflower (400 g), green onions (2 feathers), 2 cloves of garlic. To season the main component, mix paprika, salt and pepper. Add chopped garlic to them and mix it all with the inflorescences. What side dish can you serve with chicken?

Everyone eats chicken meat with great pleasure - be it a whole baked chicken in the oven, chicken legs, drumsticks or wings cooked in a sleeve, chicken rolls, boiled chicken - you can’t count the variety of dishes, since chicken is a favorite dish of almost all nations.

But the question often arises: what is best to combine chicken with, or, in other words, what side dish to serve with chicken?

Let's remember that sour or soaked apples go well as a side dish with fried or baked poultry. Goose in apples (or duck) is, as they say, a classic of the genre, but I doubt that many have tried to serve apples with chicken.

And to prepare such a light (literally and figuratively) side dish, you just need to take sour apples and, cutting them into slices, fry them in the same fat that was rendered from the chicken during the frying process. Just add the apples 10 minutes before the end of cooking the chicken in the same frying pan or on a baking sheet - and the side dish is ready! I think everyone will like it, especially the ladies!

Other things that come to mind are mashed potatoes or boiled rice. You can also use a complex side dish by adding canned green peas. But this will also be a bit standard. Although the same rice can be boiled in different ways and not everyone turns it out tasty - but at home you want, so to speak, a non-canteen version.

I suggest you cook rice according to my recipe as a side dish for chicken, and believe me, it turns out very tasty.

So, write down the recipe for rice as a side dish:

Take a cauldron or a saucepan with a thick bottom (but it always works better in a cauldron) and put 2 (two) glasses of well-washed rice in it, fill it with 3 (three) glasses of cold water, put it on high heat and don’t leave anywhere. As soon as the water boils, and this will happen very quickly, you need to cover the cauldron or pan with a lid and continue strictly in minutes (this is important!) - if there is a timer, then be sure to use it, if not, then just time it by the hour:

3 minutes – high heat, 7 minutes – moderate heat, 2 minutes – low heat. After this, turn off the gas and keep our rice without fire for 12 minutes, without opening the lid of the cauldron or pan.

If you calculate the entire cooking time from the moment of boiling, it comes out to 24 minutes. How long would you say? Not so much - after all, you only stand at the stove for the first 12 minutes, and the last 12 minutes the rice comes by itself. Then open the lid and add salt to taste and any oil to the finished rice (I like to add butter, but vegetable oil is also good) and mix everything. That's all - a delicious side dish for chicken is ready! I will be glad if you like it too!

And if you decide to cook chicken in a special sleeve, then a win-win option would be to bake potatoes and onions along with the chicken (if the potatoes are relatively large, then you need to cut them into quarters) - and you will immediately get a ready-made dish, with the least effort and very tasty, since your the side dish will be saturated with all the seasonings that you add to the chicken marinade during the preparation process, and the onion will give its juice when baking. And when the chicken and potatoes are ready, all you have to do is arrange everything beautifully on a plate and sprinkle with dill and other herbs. And make a salad from fresh tomatoes, bell peppers, or other vegetables, which can also be used to garnish your main dish.

Fried fresh tomatoes, zucchini or eggplant can be a wonderful and very elegant side dish for a holiday table. And if the season for fresh vegetables has not yet come, then stewed sauerkraut is a good vegetable side dish for chicken.

It’s also good to serve fried chicken on a festive table on a platter, lining it with slices of sliced oranges - it not only looks elegant, but also tastes great!

In general, there would be chicken, and we can always think of something for a side dish!

Bon appetit everyone!

How I choose low-calorie side dish recipes

When choosing side dishes for my top ten, I am guided by several principles:

  1. calorie content - no more than 100 kcal per 100 grams
  2. availability of ingredients - all products can be bought in a regular store
  3. ease of preparation - almost all recipes for low-calorie side dishes consist of one product and are prepared very quickly
  4. the taste of the dishes and the reliability of the recipes - all the recipes have been tested by me personally, the side dishes turn out very tasty.

Ten is presented in the form of a countdown: closer to the finish line - fewer calories.

Which side dish is the most dietary?

Conventionally, side dishes can be divided into three types:

  • Vegetable side dishes The choice here is truly huge. You can make a healthy side dish from any vegetables. Preference, of course, is better to give to vegetables rich in fiber or green vegetables. At your disposal: zucchini, eggplant, all types of cabbage, mushrooms, asparagus, onions, carrots, green beans, green peas, corn, pumpkin, tomatoes and many other vegetables. As you know, vegetables themselves are very low in calories, so they are ideal for preparing pp side dishes. But here you should also take into account the method of preparing the side dish. Vegetables absorb vegetable oil very strongly, thereby doubling or even tripling their calorie content. It is extremely important to use a minimum of vegetable oil when preparing vegetable dietary side dishes. It is better to cook such side dishes in a double boiler or in the oven; you can simmer them in a slow cooker. It is better to add oil at the end to the finished product as a dressing. If you cook without oil, then it is better to add soy sauce, tomato paste or spices for taste.
  • CerealsAnother excellent and dietary side dish is cereals. Due to the content of slow carbohydrates, these side dishes are perfectly filling and at the same time you do not feel hungry for a long time. But not all cereals are equally healthy. Some grains are over-processed and lose their nutrients and fiber. For example, it is better to replace oatmeal with oats, and pearl barley with barley. When preparing dietary side dishes from cereals, try to also include buckwheat, bulgur, quinoa, couscous, and brown brown rice in your diet. When preparing porridge, you should also not use a large amount of oil and various sauces, as this will increase the calorie content of the side dish. Don't forget about spices and herbs. These additives will add extra flavor to your dish.
  • Legumes Dietary side dishes are legumes. Here we are talking about absolutely all types of beans, peas, lentils, chickpeas, soybeans. Don’t forget about mung bean, it makes excellent side dishes. In addition to their high fiber content, which is important for proper nutrition, legumes are an additional source of protein if you do not meet your daily requirement. 100 grams of legumes contain about 20 grams of protein, so include legumes in your diet as often as possible.

General rules of use

Side dishes on a diet must be prepared and eaten subject to several conditions:

  • Variety, combination of products. Even if you like one of the dishes better, you shouldn’t focus only on it. The monotony of the diet can lead to breakdown, the desire to eat sweets or fatty foods.
  • Moderation in the volume of dishes. If you eat too much, the total number of calories may be high and the weight will stagnate. A day is enough for 400 g of vegetables, 300 g of cereals, 200 g of legumes.
  • Choosing food based on the time of day. In the morning you should eat higher-calorie cereals or beans, because there is a day ahead in which a person will spend energy. And for dinner you need to cook vegetables. They are easier to digest and have less calories.

2-3 times a month you can afford pasta, potatoes or bread. But you need to eat them without other additives (meat, fish, mushrooms).
