Broccoli and cauliflower casserole is a great hearty breakfast or dinner option for the whole family. The dish turns out very tasty, holds its shape perfectly, and cuts well into portioned pieces.
It is best to use fresh heads of cabbage. It is better to take hard cheese that is spicy and sharp. Cream can be replaced with milk if you want a more dietary version of the casserole.
Let's prepare all the ingredients for the broccoli and cauliflower casserole.
Let's separate the heads of broccoli and cauliflower into inflorescences.
Boil 1 liter of water in a saucepan, add 1 tsp. salt and blanch the inflorescences in boiling water for 3-4 minutes. Drain the cabbage and immediately immerse the cabbage in cold water to preserve the rich color of the broccoli.
Sprinkle the inside of the casserole dish with breadcrumbs.
Distribute evenly over the shape of the cabbage inflorescences.
Now let's prepare the filling for the casserole. In a bowl, whisk the eggs.
Add flour, half the grated cheese, cream, nutmeg. Mix all the filling ingredients well. Add salt if necessary.

But in reality everything is even sadder: mainly the ubiquitous potatoes, pasta, cabbage, and porridge are prepared as a side dish. That's why I purposefully search for and try new side dish recipes. The most successful ones, which are liked by all members of my family, are included in this list. Here's one of the latest finds: broccoli and cauliflower with creamy sauce. Tasty, simple and healthy.

Broccoli casserole in the oven is a dish that can be endlessly improved and made tastier with the help of additional ingredients. The result is a light, satisfying, tasty treat.
Ingredients
For the dish you need to take:
- broccoli and champignons – 180-200 g each;
- eggs – 5 pcs.;
- milk – ½ l;
- flour (sifted) - 1 full glass;
- Gouda cheese - 80-100 g;
- salt, oil.
Step-by-step cooking process
The cooking process includes several stages:
- Broccoli (washed) needs to be cut into florets. Afterwards, the cabbage needs to be divided into inflorescences in salted water. This will take 8-9 minutes. Even better is to steam the vegetables.
- At the next stage, the inflorescences are laid out on the bottom of an oiled form.
- Mushrooms should be peeled, cut into slices and distributed on top of the vegetables.
- The components in the mold are sprayed with vegetable oil.
- To prepare the filling, milk, flour, salt, and all the raw eggs will be mixed. As a result, after whipping, you should get a homogeneous mass reminiscent of pancake dough.
- Lastly, crumbled bread is added to the filling. Some of it should be left to cover the casserole.
- Next, the products in the mold are covered with filling. They are topped with the remaining cheese.
All that remains is to cover the container with the ingredients with foil. The dish will be baked at medium temperature for half an hour. The treat is served warm. You can supplement it with fresh or pickled vegetables.
Making Broccoli Casserole
To make broccoli casserole
You can use both fresh and frozen vegetables. Fresh broccoli needs to be boiled a little in salted water. Frozen it is enough to defrost and/or simmer a little in a frying pan.
Other ingredients for broccoli casserole can be mushrooms, ham, chicken or beef, tomatoes, and green peas. For filling - cream, sour cream, eggs, cheese. Nutmeg gives the casserole a spicy taste.
With cottage cheese
For this dish, use cottage cheese of medium fat content. It will not be felt in the finished treat, but will make it juicier and more tender. The casserole filling is prepared using sour cream.
Ingredients
For the dish you need to take:
- cabbage – 570-600 g;
- butter fat – 1-1.5 tbsp. l.;
- cottage cheese – 180-200 g;
- flour - 3-3.5 tbsp. l.;
- baking powder – 4-5 g;
- eggs – 4 pcs.;
- Gouda cheese - 55-60 g;
- sour cream – 2/3 tbsp.;
- salt pepper.
Step-by-step cooking process
The cooking process includes several stages:
- First, lightly boil the cabbage in boiling water. Cook it in this way in salted liquid for no longer than 2-2.5 minutes. After broccoli you need to cool.
- Next, the cheese needs to be processed with a coarse grater. Afterwards, place it in a blender bowl along with cottage cheese, sour cream, flour, baking powder, salt and pepper.
- When the mixture is thoroughly beaten, you can pour the contents of raw eggs into it. The result should be a homogeneous mixture.
- Next, place the prepared cabbage tightly together in an oiled, heat-resistant container. Broccoli inflorescences are filled with curd mass.
- Lightly tap the mold so that the filling is evenly distributed.
- The treat will be prepared in an oven preheated to medium temperature. This process will take approximately 45-50 minutes.
The casserole is delicious served either hot or cold. You can choose any sauces to go with it or just coat it with mayonnaise.
Casserole with cottage cheese and broccoli
An extremely delicate dietary dish. Especially suitable if you like unsweetened cottage cheese. In this casserole it will be combined with broccoli and herbs.
- 400 grams of broccoli;
- 500 grams of cottage cheese;
- 1 chicken egg;
- a bunch of fresh dill;
- salt and spices to taste;
- 2 tablespoons sour cream;
- butter for greasing the mold.
Steam the broccoli and place in a colander. Mix cottage cheese with egg, wash the dill, chop it very finely, add to the curd mass. Grease the pan with oil, place an even layer of broccoli, and evenly distribute the cottage cheese on top. Salt, sprinkle with spices, spread with sour cream. Bake until evenly browned. A dish of baked broccoli with cottage cheese turns out to be unexpectedly satisfying.

The following tips will help you prepare delicious cabbage casserole:
- It is best to use fresh vegetables for casserole;
- if the broccoli is very frozen, you need to first fill it with lukewarm water and let it stand for a while;
- Once fully cooked cabbage should be immersed in ice water so that it retains its rich, appetizing color.
A hearty casserole with broccoli in the oven can be prepared according to several dozen recipes. The treat turns out delicious with cheese, chicken, minced meat, cauliflower, and mushrooms.
